Lee
Lee Roy Selmon's story is a mix of football scholarships for his family and service to his community. His family's first name is his father was the youngest of the nine children raised within Eufala through Lucious Selmon. He played football with his three brothers from Oklahoma. The three brothers were All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey, Lee Roy, and Lucious Jr. Dewey started the 1973 season. Lee Roy is the winner of both Outland Awards and Lombardi Awards. He was one of the top linemen in the entire nation. During his three years as the Oklahoma's quarterback of choice and Sooners' starting quarterback, they went 32-1-1 and captured two national titles. In 1975, he received the third scholarship of his career and was recognized as an National Football Foundation scholar-athlete. Selmon received a bachelor's degree from the University of California, Berkeley. Lee Roy dedicated ten volunteer times a week in the college. Following college, he relocated in Tampa and played nine seasons with Tampa's Buccaneers. He made the All-Pro for three occasions. Then he started his professional career. In 1988, while working as an account relations officer at First Florida Bank of Tampa He was a member of the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. It's no wonder that the Junior Chamber of Commerce designated Lee Roy as among the 10 most notable young men in the country. Lee Roy weighed 256 lbs and was a tall of 7-foot-2. While he was in for college, he was the head coach of the team of 1975. In 1993, Roy was a part of the university of south Florida's sports department as its Director of Athletics as an associate. He was named to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1988 the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994 and the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. In 1989 the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation awarded their Distinguished American Award, to Mr. Lucious Selmon and his wife. Henry Bellmon is the Oklahoma governor that made the award.
