Reese Witherspoon feetLaura Jeanne Reese Witherspoon, born on March 22, 1976 was an American actress. She was the recipient of numerous accolades such as an Academy Award and a British Academy Film Award. Time magazine listed her as one of the top 100 influential people worldwide in 2006 and 2015. Forbes also named her one of the 100 Most Powerful Women in the World in 2019. In 2021, Forbes named her the world's most successful actress, with an estimated fortune of $400 million.Witherspoon began her career as a teenager, making her debut as a screen actress with The Man in the Moon (1991). Her breakout came in 1999 after an appearance in Cruel Intentions as well as her portrayal of Tracy Flick in the black comedy Election. Her role in Legally Blonde (2001 and its sequel 2003) and in Sweet Home Alabama (2002 ) have earned her more attention. In 2005, she gained notoriety and the Academy Award for Best Actress for her role as June Carter Cash in the musical biopic Walk the Line. After a career decline, during which her only box office success was Water for Elephants (2011). Witherspoon returned to the screen with the production and role in Wild (2014). She got another Academy Awards nomination for Best Actress. Since then, she's been involved in a majority of television productions. She has also appeared in a variety of female-led adaptations of literary works. This includes Big Little Lies (2017-2018), The Morning Show (2019-20), as well as Little Fires Everywhere (2020), all HBO drama series. She was awarded the Primetime Emmy Award in Outstanding Limited Series for the very first time. She was the producer of the adaptations to film of Gone Girl (2014) as along with Where the Crawdads Sing (1922). Witherspoon also owns Draper James clothing company and is active in advocacy groups for women and children. In that capacity, she serves as chair honorary for Avon Foundation's charitable foundation dedicated to women's issues.
